Life happens while we are planning something else - always! My wife and I found that out last November on a cruise to Mexico. Yes, we were on the Carnival Cruise ship Splendor when the engine room caught fire and the engines wouldn't work. We drifted at sea for 3.5 days 200 miles off the Mexican coast. Thank goodness there was no medical emergency and we did get all of our money back and more. But that was because it was their fault. If we had canceled, got sick on that trip, or missed the boat. Oops - that's on us. No refund!

Be prepared! Learn from the past, live in the present, and plan for tomorrow understanding that we don't know what tomorrow may bring. If it can happen, it will.
